FC Barcelona join Manchester United in pursuit for Cristian Romero

FC Barcelona are set to join Manchester United for the signature of Atalanta's Cristian Romero this summer.

The 23-year-old is one of the best young centre-backs in the Serie A. The Argentine international has been excellent for Atalanta last season as they finished third in Serie A.

Romero also helped Lionel Messi's Argentina to win their first Copa America in 28 years and displayed great defensive skills against Brazil in the final.

The Argentine played 42 matches last season while scoring 3 goals & assisting 5 times for Atalanta.

Cristian Romero is currently technically owned by Juventus (on loan to Atalanta) but Atalanta are ready to trigger their €18M option to buy.

Atalanta are open to sell the 23-year-old this summer but will demand a high fee of around €50M for the Argentine.

Manchester United have Cristian Romero on their Shortlist in pursuit to sign a new centre-back to partner Harry Maguire.

Manchester United are currently negotiating with Varane & his agents and will only consider Romero if the Varane deal fails.

FC Barcelona have shown interest in Cristian Romero in the last days but a move to the Camp Nou will be difficult for the Argentine due to FC Barcelona's financial issues.
